About

You may have noticed that when choosing a username, address and name for this blog I have drawn inspiration from two novels: "1984" by George Orwell, and the less known one, "We", by Yevgeny Zamyatin. The clever reader might think Wasn't there another one? The answer is Yes!, clever reader, there is -- "Brave New World", by Aldous Huxley.

"Brave New World" will have a much more significant influence when it comes to posts in this blog, as I believe our world and our society(ies) are proving Huxley's predictions true. For more information on what I'm talking about, look at this awesome cartoon by Stuart McMillen, "Amusing Ourselves to Death".

This so-called blog will concern itself with issues of freedom, rights, privacy and anything else that would be of interest to someone who feels as a cog in the machine.

So yeah, that's all for now. More posts coming soon...

  1. Yeah, a lot of people try to compare out current society to 1984 with all the privacy issues. But I have always thought it was more of a Huxley distopia. We are crammed with all this useless knowledge of celebrities and such that makes us miss the task at hand. Good post.

  3. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 1984 and Brave New World back in the school years but haven't read We, so I will find that and start reading when I have free time.
