A Public Service Announcement: adF.ly

Another off-topic post. How about I don't make promises to have parts of a series in day-to-day order and you don't lynch me. I agree and I assume you do, too.

So, what I want to warn you about is adF.ly. It is an URL shortener that gives you money for each click. How awesome! one would think, but not so fast. It actually pays very little per click and all it does is annoy the person clicking it. I gave it a go in my first post, but now I realize that it's actually a waste of time for everybody. After 18 clicks I made a cent. Everything below that was fractions of a cent, as in 1/10ths of a cent. I changed all the links to normal and will let my adF.ly account expire.

What I want to say is: don't use adF.ly! You won't make any money and it will annoy people clicking on links.

You're welcome, readership,
D-503

  4. Well, it just goes to show that when something sounds too good to be true, it is. Not to mention pissing off your followers is a bad idea.

  5. I haven't heard of this. Sounds like a good concept but what a waste of time with such a low payout.

  10. Thanks for the blog love! It always makes my day to discover new readers and their blogs. ...I appreciate the tip on the ad service. ...Blogger seems to be all wonky today. Your follower box is missing right now so I'll have to stop back by to follow you.

  23. Thank you. I've never heard of this, but there was another one. Link Bucks I think. 1000 clicks = 1 dollar. Why?

  24. I used Clicksor for a while on my website. All it did was make me about a dollar per 20k visitors or so and alot of my readers left.

This is just one of those low paying traffic sites, good youre giving the heads up.

(Also, please turn off captcha. Turn on comment moderation if you want)

  28. I don't enable captcha. Google blogs does that after a user has made too many comments, I think, to make sure you're not a bot.

I don't think I have any hindrances to commenting on this blog. :P

  29. I was wrong. I can disable captcha. I disabled it. :)

    Have at it! :P

But if I see a lot of spam I'll turn it back on...

  39. I planned on using it, I knew the payout was little and such, takes about 1000 clicks to get anywhere. But I figured to use it only on links that verify my research and things, not on important clicks. That way the curious people can wait 5 seconds and the "normal" people get what they want instantly.
